Video Annotations starts but...

Background information: I'm running a 64-bit processor with Windows Ultimate and a built-in webcam. (HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv9260nr)

I launch CamStudio then choose video annotations. It starts my webcam (blue light) and a black box pops up. I right-click on the black box and get the pop up menu. I select video source...It sees the correct webcam, but the device settings are all set to zero. I set them to 50 (brightness, contrast, and hue) thinking this might bring up the video, but it does not. (Side question: What are the settings? The default button resets everything to zero.)

To turn it off I have to choose close from the popup menu.

Any ideas?

Problem with SWF file

Hello
I realized a video by means of Camstudio in SWF mode
If I start the swf generated with Swift player the result is good
If I start it with a browser or by means of the html file generated by Camstudio the video is parasited by lines which follow the movement of the cursor.

I've just installed v2.7 on a windows 7 64 bit machine, and it seems to work only in compatibility mode.
in "normal" mode when I start the app i see the process running bu no ui.

2.7 worked great, for a couple hours. Then stopped.

I was so happy to see version 2.7 is finally here, and installed it earlier today. I could finally use a 264 codec, and get reasonable files sizes with good video quality. Most importantly, I didn't have to patch 6 2Gig files together and wait 45 minutes for my PC to output a 250 MB file anymore. I was ecstatic. Then I rebooted my PC, and it all went to hell. Now I get a message that says "Camstudio could not record the video using the current compressor. Use default compressor?" every time I try to use the 264 codec. I have uninstalled and re-installed, but something is hanging on. It remembers all of my settings even though I completely deleted it and re-installed it from scratch. What gives? It is a 64 bit machine, just FYI.

quality of .swf file?

Hello,
I'm trying to use camstudio, to create flash-movies for making tutorials for our students. Seems to work great, but there is something I don't understand very well: When I use "producer" make a flash movie, it makes two files: "movie.swf" and "movie.swf.html".
When I drag the former file into a web browser, quality is very bad. Also, when I try to import this file into powerpoint (which is actually my final goal), the quality is very bad.
However, if I drag the latter file ("movie.swf.html") into my browser, the quality is very good. So, obviously, I'm doing something wrong when importing the .swf file into my browser or powerpoint...
Can someone help me out, please?

Disappearing Application

Well this is something that happened to me when i first installed version 2.7 of cam-studio. The Application loaded however upon minimizing it disappeared and refused to open even when using task manager. I was not able to actually re-open it and had to manually shut off the operation via task manager. This happens every time i minimize and i'm not sure whether it is just me, i have un and re-installed Cam-studio twice since i always forget to not minimize it and lose everything i was doing :p

Dear pros,

I used Camstudio/ Record to SWF to record the screen, when i open the flash file it is so good but when i resize the window are presenting the file, the quality of the file becoming so so so so baddddd.

Even when i attach this file into powerpoint, the same problem happen, it made me crazy.

Bad quality swf when change size of video

Hi Pros,

I am having the below trouble:

When i use camstudio to create swf. file, when we open the file, the video is really good but then change the size of video, the quality of video becoming worse

Especially, when video is inserted in powerpoint, the same problem happends, it made me crazy.

so pls help me firgure it out.

The volume button under audio options for microphones does nothing. It does not open up a window giving me the chance to set the volume. It does nothing at all. Please help. Thanks

When the program is minimized, and you right-click it in the taskbar and select exit, the screen starts flashing green really rapidly. If you can manage to see the actual screen between flashes, you can bring up task manager and end Recorder.exe which stops the flashing. I did this with the latest 2.6b release and the older 1.4, same result. My computer runs Windows 7. Could someone with a Mac or Linux distro confirm if this happens on other OSs?

Recording Screen Size

I'm new to camstudio, and also new to screen recording, so please pardon me if my question sounds naive.

I've tried a few test recordings with camstudio using screen size 1280x720, and I noticed that although the recording comes out clear, it doesn't appear as crisp as some I've seen in youtube.

I'm using camstudio v2.6, in windows 7, camstudio lossless codec 1.5

I have the quality to 100% in the video options, and
set key frames to 20,
capture frames every 50ms
playback rate 20 frames/sec

What am I missing something?

Also, I would like to ask, if it were possible like to record on a smaller screen like 800x600, and then make it come out as HD 720p?

I just made a recording..... everything great, sound also....
but I had a video playing in a rectangle ..... the rectangle
was there in the recording but completely black .

Big files

Its great to get a movie of your comp... sound also,
so far Ive made 4 movies but got to say... the files are very big...
I made a 21 second movie and it came in at 10 meg !
that is very big......

I noticed the ... bit rate .... was something like 1400.... which .... sounds very big
if I could get that bit rate down I might end up with a smaller file
but .... so far .... not seen any way to cut down the bit rate .

Cannot add layer to layer group while using Camstudio 2.6

Hi guys. I reported the following bug to the GIMP(GNU Image Manipulation Program) developers:

I simply opened GIMP 2.8.2, opened the layers dialog, opened a new layer,
opened a new layer group, opened Camstudio 2.6, started recording,
attempted to drag the newly created layer to the layer folder(AKA group)
but it did not work. The layer remained where it was, despite trying
indefinitely. The layer should have been added to the layer group. It only
works when stopping the screen capturing with Camstudio 2.6 .

I wanted to know if the current Camstudio developers have any idea whether Camstudio touches any of the aforementioned libraries. It seems a very bizarre glitch.

Fix CamStudio Codec manual installer to work with Win7 64-bit systems

Although I don't use this codec myself (and prefer Lagarith Lossless), those who wish to use it may have been frustrated by the manual installer not working in Win7 on 64-bit systems. Here is a video I found today that shows how to fix the .inf file so it works correctly. Thanks, b0otable!

So I kept getting this error, no matter what I did. I tried using divx (with the height/weight parameters divisible by 4 and 2 as necessary - i even set the height and weight TO 4 and 2) and xvid (with height/weight divisible by 2) and to no avail. No matter what I would do, it would not work, and I spent soooo much time trying to figure it out. I tried every other codec and no matter what, no worky!

Thankfully I have an awesome coworker who finally figured it out.. It couldn't work because the folder that it was writing to.. I didn't have permission to write to. Such a simple fix >.< changed destination folder to something else, and viola, it worked!

I just wanted to post that here because i spent, literally, hours making it work, and I wanted to save someone else the frustration - just in case anyone else was having the same issue.

Slanted B&W Video Output, What's Going on?

I'm using the Lossless compressor, and the video looks great, except for the fact it is slanted to the left, and the left corner that is cut off from being slanted is then put on the right side of the video.

I'll try to post a youtube video of what's going on, but maybe someone here already knows what I'm talking about?
